DIY Christmas ornament ideas: fun and easy craft projects

There’s a lot of pressure to be the perfect hostess on Christmas, but it doesn’t mean you have to be Martha Stewart. Your house doesn’t have to look like a magazine spread to be a cozy and inviting place for your family and friends.

Here’s some ideas for DIY Christmas ornaments that are fun and easy craft projects:

Paper Stars

You can create simple yet elegant paper stars by folding strips of paper in half and then cutting out small triangles from each side of the fold line on each strip. Glue them together with a bit of hot glue until you have created a star shape, then finish by adding a bow or ribbon to make them look prettier.

 Recycled Crayon Ornaments

These colorful decorations are made using crayons that have been melted down into colorful liquid form using an oven or microwave (depending on how much time you want to spend). Once cooled down, they are ready to be used as ornaments.

Wooden monogram letter ornaments

This is an easy way to make personalized wooden monogram letter ornaments for gift giving without having to paint each person’s name on their own piece of wood! All you need are some wooden letters (you can find them at most craft stores), paint pens in your choice of colors (we like metallic ones), twine and some hot glue.

 Photo Christmas Ornaments

I love the idea of using photos as ornaments — it’s a great way to bring back memories from different years and make it easier to spot which ones are ours when we’re decorating our tree each year. It’s also a great way to get your kids involved in the decorating too because they can color in their own foam sheets with markers or paints.

Paper plate wreath

If you’re looking for something quick and easy then this paper plate wreath is perfect for you! You’ll only need two things — paper plates and glue — to make this beautiful wreath that will look great hanging on your door all year long.

Crochet snowflake ornament

This is one of the easiest DIY Christmas ornament ideas out there — but it’s also one of the most beautiful. All you need is some white yarn and a crochet hook. Cut about 20 yards of yarn for each snowflake. Then, use your fingers to twist one end into a loop (about 5 inches long). Next, slip the loop through the middle of another loop (so it looks like an infinity symbol), then pull both ends through the middle of that loop. Pull until you have a nice round shape with no gaps between loops. Continue making more circles until you have enough for an entire tree. Then hang them on your tree or even string them together with other colors for an awesome display. If you want something bigger than just snowflakes, try making pine cone trees instead.

Easy Snowflake Ornament

If you’re not into crafting, but still want an easy Christmas craft idea for kids, then this snowflake ornament idea might just be perfect for you. All it takes is some paper and scissors, plus some patience for cutting out all those intricate shapes (which kids will love). Once everything is cut out and glued together, your kids can even decorate their snowflakes with glitter glue if they’d like.
